His family consists of wife Angie Athayde, sons Riley and T.C, daughters Ashley and Carlie. Ron, his father is a trainer and brother Scott is a jockey.


Notes:
Gary Stevens is a jockey by profession. He started grooming horses from age 8. He galloped horses in quarter horse races at a tender age. He commenced galloping horses at fairs and bush tracks. In 1979, at 16 he won race upon Lil Star. In 1983-84 he won riding titles and topped the jockey list in Washington. Gary Stevens won innumerable riding titles and 1997 Silver Charm won. He retired in 1999 with a knee pain. Surgery was performed Santa Anita (1986, 1988, 1990, 1993) Del Mar (1987, 1988) and Oak Tree (1986, 1987, 1997). In 1998 he won Kentucky Derby aboard Winning Colors. In 1995 Thunder Gulch on his knees on Dec 1.
