Notes:
Rene Douglas following footsteps of his father and brother admitted to jockey school at his early years. He clinched his first victory in Panama with Betitio Che immigrated to the United States in 1983 and sacrificed himself completely in the service of horseracing. Douglas won 1996 Belmont with Editor s Note posted three riding titles at Calder and Hialeah held record for most wins in a single race meet at Hialeah accomplished twice the most wins on a single card with six at Calder registered four riding titles at Arlington Park (2001-2004) made a record number of consecutive titles at the Chicago track won seven races on one card at Arlington Park on July 24, 2003. Douglas came down to southern California from Chicago and became a leading rider at the 2004 Hollywood Park fall meet where he completed second. He recorded 3000th win through January 13, 2005 at the historic Santa Anita Park. By winning 242 races in 2004 claimed 14th spot nationally. He was out of touch from racing at the end of 2005 due to his brother s death followed by his father in January 2006. Returned to racing in February 2006 at Gulfstream. On 23rd May, 2009 Rene Douglas injured himself in grade III Arlington Matron Handicap. Born to Be was bumped and he landed right on top of him. He was transferred to hospital where surgeons worked on him for 7 hours. He may not be able to walk again. Born to Be was euthanized
