Notes:
An outstanding field of 11 was entered in Saratoga s second juvenile graded stakes of the meet for open company . Four of them are exiting stakes, including the second, third and fourth-place finishers from the G3 Sanford S. on July 19 here. Sanford runner-up Mr. Z tops that trio off a neck loss to the now-sidelined Big Trouble. The son of Malibu Moon might well have won the Sanford if not for repeated trouble during the race. Cinco Charlie won the G3 Bashford Manor S. at Churchill Downs before running a length and a half behind Mr. Z in the Sanford. The colt did the dirty work through fast fractions here and hung tough for the show check. Nonna s Boy disappointed as the Sanford favorite but was beaten only two lengths when completing the superfecta. W V Jetsetter captured the restricted TTA Sales S. on July 12 at Lone Star Park and was subsequently sold and moved from trainer Bret Calhoun to George Weaver. He signaled a fondness for his new surroundings with a bullet work over this course on Aug. 3. Flashy June 22 Gulfstream Park maiden winner Tizcano also has new connections after being sold at auction for 710,000 in mid-July. With no works for more than a month due to the sale, the colt then had three official exercises in nine days to prepare for this. Further complicating wagering matters here is the fact that his lofty 94 Beyer Speed Figure in his debut was expunged when accuracy about times at Gulfstream s 4 F distance were questioned. Majestic Affair is the third member of the field making his first start for a new barn. The runaway winner of a Canterbury Park maiden contest recently joined Chad Brown s Saratoga string and has had only one work in New York to prepare for this class test. Lord Tyrion was privately purchased off a third-place finish in his initial outing at Churchill Downs then proceeded to win a maiden race in the slop at Indiana Downs. He ll need to step it up to compete with these. I Spent It, a son of 2010 Kentucky Derby champ Super Saver, figures to take plenty of money off a sharp winning debut at Belmont Park on July 2. He smoked the 4F bullet over this surface on Aug. 4. Churchill Downs maiden winner Rod McLeod also shows a bullet work for his return, having had the best of 42 4F move here on Aug. 7. Cleveland Sound, winner of a Delaware Park maiden contest in his only start, was flattered when his stablemate and third-place finisher from that came back to score over a large field at Saratoga on Aug. 2. Stanford completes the field and gives conditioner Todd Pletcher another shot if Nonna s Boy fails. He joined Pletcher s Saratoga contingent after winning a Monmouth maiden race at first asking.

The Saratoga Special is an American grade II horseracing event that takes place annually in the month of August at Saratoga Race Course. It is open for thoroughbred horses with an age of two year olds and capable of racing six and half furlongs on the dirt track. This race was first run in 1901 and since then it has been running with a little break due to the Second World War. Earlier, the Saratoga Special was an event where the winner used to get all the owners used to nominate their horses in sets of three for one. This actually increased the chance of getting a horse in a race. But, on and from 1959, this rule changed and the Saratoga Special became a regular horseracing event, where owners could nominate their horses and entries. In due course of years, this horseracing event was run at various racecourses for different reasons it was held at Belmont Park in 1943, 1944 and 1945. The Special was not run in 1911 and 1912 and interestingly there were only three starters in 1969. It is going to be the 103rd running in 2008.
