Notes: Conditione r Jim Cassidy was asking much from Ocho Ocho Ocho when he shipped the son of Street Sense from Santa Anita to make his route and graded stakes debut in the G3 Delta Downs Jackpot on November 22, but the colt proved his class and gameness when he outfought the more experience d Mr. Z for the win. Ridden for the first time by Hall of Famer Mike Smith, Ocho Ocho Ocho broke from the extreme outside post and managed to drop inside for a ground-sav ing position in fourth behind pacesetter Conquest Tsunami. He moved to the lead after 6F and battled to the wire with Mr. Z for a gritty nose victory. He then survived a stewards inquiry and objection by Corey Lanerie, who rode show finisher Far Right, before the result was made official. Ocho Ocho Ocho covered the 1 1/16m in 1 45.47 and was awarded a 90 Beyer Speed Figure. The Jackpot was the colt s third race since beginning his career six weeks ago with a winning debut in a 5 1/2 F maiden race at Santa Anita. He took his first stakes on the Breeders Cup undercard there when he romped in the 6 1/2 F Juvenile Turf Sprint S. that was moved to the main track. Bred in Kentucky by Siena Farms LLC, the dark bay is out of Winner, a daughter of Horse Chestnut, and was foaled on April 2, 2012. He originally sold for 50,000 at the Keeneland 2013 September Yearling Sale. Owner DP Racing, LLC later purchased the colt for 200,000 at the Ocala Breeders Sales Company 2014 Spring Sale of Two-Year-O lds in Training and cleverly named him after his hip number (888). The Jackpot victory increased Ocho Ocho Ocho s career earnings to 693,600 and propelled him to third on the Kentucky Derby leaderboar d with 10 qualifying points. Cassidy said his charge will be given a freshening and pointed to a February return, likely in the G2 Robert B. Lewis S. at Santa Anita.
