He is a retired Champion jockey and now a trainer in thoroughbr ed horse racing. He grew up in the horse racing industry. In 1984 he was voted for the prestigiou s Eclipse Award for Outstandin g Apprentice Jockey. He became an associate trainer under his father and started individual training in 1993. His first stake win as a trainer came in 1994 at Hollywood Park by winning the Cinema Handicap. He has also won races at Gulfstream Park in California . In 2009 he became the first US based horse conditione r to ship as horse winning a stake in England.
