The top four finishers will be awarded 10-4-2-1 respective points towards a spot in the starting gate on the first Saturday in May. G3 Delta Downs Jackpot hero Goldencents will try to take the field gate-to-wire in his seasonal bow. Conditioner Doug O Neill s Into Mischief colt shows bullet works for his return and was beaten only by soon-to-be-named juvenile champion Shanghai Bobby when facing 22 rivals in three starts last year. A pair of Bob Baffert trainees will try to upset the favorite. Den s Legacy exits a solid 3 rd in the G1 CashCall S. over BHP s synthetic and took the G3 Generous S. on that track s turf course on 11/24. He was a well-beaten 5 th in his only dirt try in the FrontRunner S. here but sports a best of 76 work over this surface on 12/28. Manando will also represent the Hall of Famer s barn, earning his chance with an impressive maiden-breaker at BHP. He figures to contest the lead with Goldencents. Oak Tree Juvenile Turf winner Dry Summer could benefit from a speed duel if he can regain his form and handle the main track, though his only dirt attempt in the FrontRunner was hardly encouraging. Dirty Swagg was also a bust in the FrontRunner then followed that with a 3 rd in the Real Quiet S. and a drubbing in the CashCall. Last out maiden claiming winner Greeley Awesome completes the field and gives O Neill another chance if Goldencents disappoints.


The Sham Stakes is an American horseracing meet that is raced at a distance of one and one eight miles on the dirt track of Santa Anita Park. This grade III horseracing event is for three-year-old thoroughbred horses. At present, this horseracing event carries a purse of 200,000. The race was inaugurated in 2001 and has been raced at the left-handed cushion track of Santa Anita Park racetrack, California. The name of the race is for the winner of the 1973 Santa Anita Park Derby racehorse Sham. Sham is also remembered for his great battle against the Secretariat in the US Triple Crown Races. Man Among Men clocked 1 48 39 to set a record victory in 2003, which is yet to break by any of the contenders. Victor Espinoza won this race thrice as jockey while Bob Baffert clinched victory twice as trainer. The Pamplemousse won the title in 2009.
