Notes: Exceller is one of the thoroughbr ed racehorses based in the United States horseracin g circuit. He was foaled on May 12, 1973 in Kentucky and was bred by Mrs. Charles W. Engelhard. He was trained for the first time under Francois Mathetand later by Maurice Zilber. He was shipped to England at four before that, he had not had much success in his own racing ground. There he posted winning titles in some of the races and was sent back to the United States for taking part in the North American horseracin g events. In 1978, as a five-year- old, Exceller enjoyed his best season on the North American racecourse by winning seven of the ten starts. He claimed titles in the Hollywood Gold Cup, Hollywood Invitation al Turf Handicap, San Juan Capistrano Handicap, Sunset Handicap, Oak Tree Invitation al Stakes one by one. He was elected to the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1999.
