Single Grandfather Hugo Jara was a jockey and trainer. Whereas his father, Jorge Jara is a trainer, he has uncles who were jockeys. One of his two sisters is a psychologist, the other being in college while his brother is an architect.


Notes:
Fernando was by born a horse racing enthusiast. He used to play with small horses at his childhood days. Gradually, he learned the art of horse racing he left public school and joined jockey school at the age of fourteen. Fernando earned his nickname Ice Boy from his huge fans across his country and in the US horse racing circuit. He is fearless in heart and when he rides his stunning pasture on top of the horse speaks of his courage. He posted his first win only at the age of fifteen on Soy Soberano Papa at Hippodromo President Remon. Fernando came to the United Stakes on December 26, 2003 with his friend Samuel Jimenez and started his career at Aqueduct.
