He is a jockey in American thoroughbred horse racing. He has been actively involved with horse racing since the age of 12. He started out as a jockey in Peru and then in the year 2004 he moved to the US. He became the leading rider at Ellis Park in 2006. He also won the inaugural Presque Isle Downs Stakes in 2007. He ranked 40th in US by purse earnings in 2008.
