Patrick Husbands is a popular thoroughbred jockey, who has been racing in the Canadian horseracing circuit for nearly two decades. He is by birth the son of a jockey, who started riding horses as a young boy in his homeland. Gradually, he became a professional rider in his home country and rode with great weight until immigrating to Toronto, Ontario in 1994. He has won the Canadian Triple Crown in 2003 riding the colt Wando. Patrick Husbands was chosen for the Sovereign Awards for Outstanding Jockey. He made his first Kentucky Derby appearance in 2006 riding Seaside Retreat for trainer Mark Casse.
