Notes:
Richard Migliore is an American thoroughbred jockey, who is rightly called The Mig , a Russian fighter jet, for his sharp riding style. Richard Migliore is by born an animal lover. At 11, his family migrated to a bigger house, where there was enough space for riding horses and bikes. Only a few yards from his house, there was a farm for keeping horses. Eventually, Hugh Cassidy was owner of that farm. Cassidy helped Richard for the first time to ride and gave him the first lesson on riding. Only at 13 along with some of his friends, Richard bought a few ponies for starting a pony-ride business. Even they used to charge for riding those ponies. Richard was present at the Kentucky Derby and saw how Willie Shoemaker touched the finishing line at ease. On that very day, he decided to become a jockey and the next part is a history. He took professional training on riding from trainer Stephen A. DiMauro, who gave him first job at a track. Rode for the first time on September 29, 1980 and it took only a month to post a winning title at the professional racing circle. In the next year, he won the Eclipse Award as the leading apprentice jockey. In the middle of 1988, Migliore suffered a neck injury when he was thrown from Madam Alydar at Belmont Park. Again in 1999, he fractured his right arm in another spill at Belmont. He has received many awards in due course of his career. In 2005, he completed the 4000th career race victory and became 18th active jockey and 43rd in history to reach that landmark.
