A field of seven entered the year s first G1 stakes for the juvenile division, but the most accomplished of the bunch I Spent It - may well scratch. The son of 2010 Kentucky Derby champion Super Saver couldn t have been more impressive when overcoming trouble in route to a victory in the G2 Saratoga Special S. here on Aug. 10, but trainer Tony Dutrow is likely to scratch and await the G1 Champagne S. at Belmont Park on Oct. 4. Dutrow suggested that only a defection of likely race favorite Competitive Edge, another offspring of Super Saver, would prompt him to come back with his charge in this spot. A runaway debut winner, Competitive Edge figures to be the overwhelming choice here if I Spent It stays on the sidelines. The 94 BRIS Speed Rating the colt earned in his July 26 romp is easily the highest of the remaining entrants and his morning works since have received glowing reports. South Florida invader Dekabrist similarly ran away from his rivals in his debut, a 4 1/2F laugher at Gulfstream Park in May, and earned lofty speed figures in the process. However, his 90 Beyer Speed Figure was later expunged when the track s accuracy of times at the distance was questioned. Dekabrist s Beyers declined to 62 and 48, respectively, when he subsequently won the Kodiak Island S. at Gulfstream in mid-June and was a well-beaten fifth there in the Birdonthewire S. nearly a month later. The 90 BRIS Speed Rating Dekabrist was awarded in his debut still stands, but his figures from that service have also regressed. Requite delivered when sent to post as the favorite in an Aug. 9 Saratoga maiden race and shows one work since. Maiden Signature Cat set the pace in an Aug. 14 race here and was overhauled in the stretch to settle for second. Sharm is winless in two starts, including a drubbing at the hooves of Competitive Edge in his initial outing. Maratik, a stablemate of Dekabrist, finished well back as the fourth of seven in a Gulfstream maiden race on Aug. 9 and appears hopelessly overmatched in the Hopeful.

Three Chimneys Hopeful Stakes is horse racing event that is organized at Saratoga. It has a purse value of 300,000. 2 years old horses that can cover a distance of 7 furlong may participate in the race.
