Notes:
As a Breeders Cup Challenge race, Woodbine s prestigious Summer S. offers the winner paid entry into the G1 Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf and a travel stipend to the Oct. 31 event at Santa Anita. A pair of unbeaten stakes winners are expected to vie for favoritism as Victoria S. and Colin S. champ Conquest Tsunami and Vandal S. hero Imperial Dream get set to break from adjacent stalls in the starting gate. The former, a Stormy Atlantic colt, has the experience edge with four victories in as many starts, including an allowance score over this turf course. But the Mark Casse trainee looked vulnerable in that grassy head win over a game Passion for Action. Imperial Dream, a perfect two-for-two in his brief career, has never raced on turf but trounced Passion for Action when launching his career over the Polytrack here. The son of Stormy Atlantic should have no problem making the surface switch. Maiden Conquest Typhoon gives Casse another shot should Conquest Tsunami fail. Another son of Stormy Atlantic, the bay has two runner-up efforts, including one in his initial outing in the restricted Clarendon S. Ethical Funds, also a maiden, exits a respectable third-place finish in the Simcoe S., which was just the second start of his career. Less Than Perfect is the other stakes vet in the field, though the maiden winner failed to hit the board in any of his three black type attempts. He finished well behind Conquest Tsunami both times they met. Saratoga Dreamer is the lone invader in the field as he ships in from Saratoga off of a grassy 5F maiden win there. Samuel Dechamplain looked good when first to the wire in his second start on this oval and gets jockey Justin Stein for the return engagement. Crown Prince could only manage fourth in two sprints but promptly broke his maiden when stretched out to 1m 70 yards over Woodbine s main track at the end of last month. U S Marshal chased Samuel Dechamplain and settled for second in his only start.

The Summer Stakes is a thoroughbred horseracing event that is run at a distance of one mile on the left-handed turf track of woodbine Racetrack, Ontario. This grade III horseracing meet is open to two-year-olds horses. Previously, this stake was a grade II event but in 2006 it has been downgraded. This is a part of the Breeders Cup Challenge Series Win and You re In. Since it s inception in 1953, this horseracing event has been run on various distances. At present, it carries a purse of 300,000.
