Notes:
Multiple stakes champ Uncaptured, who opened as AllHorseRacing s Kentucky Derby future book favorite last August, makes his long-awaited seasonal debut in Turfway Park s major Kentucky Derby prep, which is worth 50-20-10-5 qualifying points to the top four finishers plus a share of the 550,000 purse. The Ontario-bred colt has won six of his seven starts, five of them stakes, but has been hampered by foot problems since taking the G2 Kentucky Jockey Club at Churchill Downs last November. He s been training forwardly over the synthetic surface in Ocala and is proven over Polytrack at Woodbine. Balance the Books is the only other graded stakes victor in the field and has been off even longer than Uncaptured. He was last seen finishing a close 3 rd in the G1 Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf on 11/3 and missed a planned return in Gulfstream Park s G3 Palm Beach S. due to a minor issue. This will be his first start on synthetic after racing exclusively on grass. Breeders Cup Juvenile 3 rd -place finisher Capo Bastone broke his maiden over the synthetic track at Del Mar. He won his seasonal debut, a Gulfstream OC 75000n1x, last month in his first start after moving to Todd Pletcher s barn. Fear the Kitten checked in a non-threatening 5 th behind Uncaptured in the Jockey Club then hit the board while being double-digits behind the winners in the G3 Lecomte and Southwest stakes. Mac the Man has won two stakes over this track this year and three in a row dating back to last December. He skipped the John Battaglia Memorial S. to point for this spot. General Election closed from far back to win the Battaglia in his stakes debut. The close 2-3 finishers behind him that day, Giant Finish and For Greater Glory, also return here. My Name Is Michael was purchased privately after running 2 nd in Woodbine s Display S. to end his juvenile campaign. In his first start for trainer Bill Mott, he closed late for 3 rd in the G3 Sam F. Davis S. at Tampa Bay Downs before a cough forced him to miss training and the G2 Fountain of Youth S. at Gulfstream. Black Onyx gave a career best effort when racing on turf for the first time in a Gulfstream OC 75000n1x on 2/23. Channel Isle was drubbed in his only two stakes tries, both on dirt, but finished a good 3 rd over Polytrack in a Keeneland maiden contest. Taken by the Storm is subbing for stablemate Frac Daddy in the Spiral and was DQ d to 2 nd in that Keeneland race with Channel Isle. He exits a 3/9 win on the Gulfstream grass.

Spiral Stakes is a grade 3 horse racing event that is organized at Turfway Park. It has a purse value of 500,000. 3 years old Graded Stakes horses that can cover a distance of 9 furlong may participate in the race.
