Blue Grass Stakes is named after the Bluegrass region of Kentucky, characterized by grass having bluish-green culms, which is known as the "heart" of the thoroughbred racing industry. Keeneland which has been around since 1936 is more than just a great racecourse! Keeneland is also one of the most prestigious world class Thoroughbred Auction companies with a diverse clientele from around the world and if that wasn't enough, they are also the one of the leading innovators of Polytrack and Best Pad Safety as they are continuously seeking new ways to bring more safety to the sport.
Blue Grass Possible Starters:
It is expected that trainer Michael Maker will send Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Hansen out of Sky Chai Stable to the Blue Grass Stakes. Joining Hansen will likely be Drill, trained by Bob Baffert and Howe Great trained by Graham H. Motion. Don’t be surprised if Dullahan who showed promise earlier in the year also gets in the gate trained by Dale Romans. Also worth mentioning are Golden Ticket trained by Ken McPeek, Exothermic trained by George Arnold II and also Midnight Crooner from Bob Baffert.
Don’t miss this important stop on the Triple Crown trail as the Kentucky Derby Prep races continue and can be watched LIVE on NBC with coverage starting at 5pm ET for this double feature including the Santa Anita Derby. Horse betting futures are available weeks if not months before the big race and advance wagering opens up to 24 hours before post time so you can bet on the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes way before the competition.
